Monkey Man

I thought Ethan was too timid to try his hand in the monkey world, but I should've known it would just take time. This morning at the playground he surprised me by climbing everything that he could. He didn't even wait for me! This is the first time, that I know of, that he climbed up and over the monkey bars.
It was a little scary for both of us, but he only got stuck once, and that didn't stop him from trying again and again.

A Picture Is Worth 1000 Words

This picture, oh where to begin on this picture... This picture shows me so many things.
First, this is the calm after the storm, we'll get there. Start at the beginning, he is mostly tired from church. We went to church this morning, we were late (surprise, surprise) and child care was full, so Michael stayed with E. He played with lots of kids. From Michael's assessment, Ethan is a leader in the classroom, not on purpose, more of he does what he wants and kids follow him. Good to know.
After the service Ethan and Daddy ate doughnuts (this is shown in the chocolate covering E's chin in this picture).
After doughnuts we walked to the car, in the time span of walking from church to the car he went from being happy silly boy into a mega screaming tantrum, from his sheer will to be independent, which lasted all the way through nasty construction traffic till we got to Michael's work. Then, realizing we were just dropping Michael off, tantrum begins again.
Oh, rewind, I forgot, this picture also shows that he has learned how to roll down his window (uh oh, but easily solved if it gets out of hand) and would like his window down at all times of this, not so pleasant, drive.
So, to recap
-Exhaustion
-Choco-mouth
-Independent, strong-willed
-Window down
-Zazzy in hand
-Finally some peace for Mommy

Mother's Day 2010

I know, I know, it was a week ago and I'm just now posting. My mother's day was spectacular! My husband made us a big, yummy breakfast before he had to go to work and then I got to spend the day with this irresistible guy:
after he pleased me with the gift of a 3 hour nap, we went for a walk to the middle school down the street. I had to explain to him at least 10 times why we couldn't go in the school but only walk around it. Then we sang a song about it, it went something like this (please make up your own tune):
"We're going on an adventure, adventure, adventure
We're going on an adventure to see what we can find.
We're going to the school, the school, the school
We're going to the school but we can't go in."
Ethan: "Nope"
About 3/4 of the way there E took a fantastic tumble, as in fell down flat but with such force that it rolled him onto his back. He started crying while I "calmly" looked for the places he may have bumped or scraped without any luck. I asked him if he wanted to go home and get Boo boo Zazzy and of course this made him cry harder with some "No, school!"'s thrown in there. So we kept going.

I finally found the scrape, see his right elbow? I know he's a tough guy

Of course when it was time to go home he picked the long route home and a few minutes into it, kicked off his shoes and ended up getting a piggy back ride the rest of the way.
That night we went up to Chuck and Diane's for dinner and he was a crazy man, the entertainment of the evening.

Feeling Nostalgic

This shirt was Daddy's when he was a little boy. Both Ethan and Daddy think that is fantastic and that we should share, I agree.

Have a good evening.

Daddy-Ethan Date

Its no wonder that kids usually think of their dads as the "fun parent," when Mom goes away for one night, Dad takes Ethan to Lil' Biggs. (It's a place kind of like Chuck E Cheese except for smaller kids.)

Why wasn't Mommy included in this fantastic event? My father and I were enjoying an awesome concert put on by this guy (yes that is a pink mohawk):
For his b-day, I bought my dad tickets to 30 Seconds to Mars and the show was this past Friday night in Denver. So, even though I was missing lots of games and Ethan time, I definitely was not suffering.

Dr Ethan

Ethan got a doctor kit and pj's from his Grandma (New Mama, Mike's mom). He enjoys giving us all shots and using the reflex hammer thing (the only thing he's allowed to hammer people with).

Perhaps writing a prescription?
