Backyard Camping

Last Monday we went fishing. Michael caught another trout and we had my parents over for our second fish fry. Even though I don't particularly care for fish, it was a lot of fun. That afternoon, Michael decided it would be fun to have a camp out in the backyard with Ethan. (This is our new tent)

We made S'Mores

and ate them in front of the tent
And Ethan modeled for me

They made it till about 10pm, Ethan wouldn't settle down, and then spent the rest of the night inside. Oh well, next time maybe.

Concert in the park

Last week, Michael, Bri, Ethan and myself went to see one of our favorite local bands, Martini Shot, play a free concert. Just wanted to share some pics

Girlfriends Reunion

About 14 years ago, before entering high school, I met a group of girls and we celebrated a summer together. Those months before and at the beginning of freshman year, we were inseparable. Now, 14 years, and 13 kids, later here we are. All happy and healthy and semi-adult.

From L to R: Michelle, Kirsten, Malane, Suzy, Tiana and Me
and our soccer team: Elias, Aryanna, Kyle, Harmony with Ella, Ashley, Jaden, Tyler, Dillon, Emily in front, Hailey, Addison and Ethan
What a reunion. It was amazing to see each other, all together, all Mommies.

Indepence Day

Today is a day to celebrate. To celebrate that we are free...

Free to play

Free to make mistakes
and have do overs

Free to buy lemonade from the neighbor kids
Free to water the trees
Free to blow bubbles with family and friends
Free to ride motorcycles
Free to eat dessert however we feel like it
and then laugh
Free to watch, from the comfort of our bedroom window, as the neighbors set off fireworks
Today we're free, thank you to anyone that made this day possible for us.

Stampede!

Down Tejon St, in downtown Colorado Springs. The big event literally lasted minutes, but Ethan still loved seeing all the long-horned cattle, especially the babies.

Fishing

Did I mention in my previous post that even with all the fishing done in the clear, calm waters, not 1 of the 3 men caught any fish?
So, this past Monday we went up to a camp site on the South Platte River that Michael and I like to think of as "our spot" and did a little fishing.

And he caught one!!!

And we brought it home and fried it up and had it for dinner! It was delicious!

Here's a view on the drive home, the forest recovering from the Hayman Fire, 8 years after it began:
